At just 17 years old, Marley Moreash is already discovering what leadership looks like not from behind a podium, but by having the courage to ask questions.

A Northern Cheyenne student of Hawaiian-Chinese, Filipino, Mexican, Asian, and German heritage, Marley is preparing to graduate high school and attend the University of Nevada, Reno, where she plans to study biomedical sciences on her path toward becoming an oncologist. Yet her ambitions extend beyond medicine. She is also learning the importance of civic engagement, accountability, and ensuring Indigenous voices are heard in the decisions that shape Nevada’s future.

As part of  eaglestaff.org she serves as an organizer, model, and youth representative at Indigenous community events, Marley is no stranger to supporting cultural initiatives. However, stepping into a conversation with a candidate for governor challenged her in a different way.

A self-described introvert, Marley pushed beyond her comfort zone to participate in Alexis Hill’s “Ask Alexis Anything” community outreach event. Inspired by the work of Indian Voices and Eagle Staff’s commitment to youth leadership, she used the opportunity to ask questions many adults hesitate to ask.
