IJA Members Elect Board; Board Selects2024-2025 Executive Committee

Members of the Indigenous Journalists Association voted online and in-person July 15-26 to elect the 2024-2025 Board of Directors.  

Alyssa London (Tlingit) and Roselynn Yazzie(Shoshone-Bannock / Diné) were newly elected and Angel Ellis (Muscogee Nation)was re-elected to a second term as a board member.

The 2024 IJA Election Committee reported the election results, which were certified during a special board meeting on July 27.

The board also appointed 2024-2025 officers during the meeting with members-elect in attendance. Christine Trudeau, Jourdan Bennett-Begaye, Angel Moore and Shondiin Silversmith were all appointed to positions on the executive committee:

• Christine Trudeau (Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation),president

• Jourdan Bennett-Begaye (Diné), vice president

• Shondiin Silversmith (Diné), secretary

Joseph Lee and Sunnie Clahchischillgi will remain seated for the duration of their terms.

IJA’s next board meeting is scheduled for August 15th,, 2024 at 6pm CT; the board will select committee representatives from the board for directors. Any IJA member in good standing is welcome to attend board meetings, and the board encourages any members to reach out to IJA if they are interested in joining any committees:
