Veterans Voices: We’re Listening

Veterans’ Voices: We’re Listening is an oral history program that preserves the memories and experiences of our Veterans so that future generations may better appreciate the realities and the sacrifices of those who serve in the military.

Please Join Us! On Wednesday, April 24 we are hosting a reception to honor our narrators and supporters.

Veterans’ Voices: We’re Listening [VVWL] is an oral history collaborative at UNLV that in association with the Women’s Research Institute of Nevada and the Military and Veteran Services Center.

Founded in 2022 by Barbara Tabach, the project is capturing the experiences of Southern Nevada Veterans and their families. Veterans’ Voices: We’re Listening represents all branches and eras of the U.S. military and documents the the diversity of Veterans and their experiences, their service, and sacrifices.

The audio-recorded oral histories of Veterans and their families are transcribed and edited. We also scan photographs and other materials that will be included in the final oral history. We then create and publish a book of the transcript and images. The final product will be archived and available to the public and researchers.

The generous support of The Eleanor Kagi Foundation, a Lynn M. Bennett Legacy, made it possible for Veterans’ Voices: We’re Listening to become a reality. We are humbly grateful for their continued support as we work to preserve the spoken memories of local Veterans and their families.
