As we gather this Labor Day to honor the contributions of workers across our nation, it is essential to reflect on the on going struggles and challenges faced by many in our communities. Labor Day is not only a time to celebrate achievements in workers' rights but also an opportunity to renew our commitment to equity, justice, and opportunity for all.
At the Brotherhood and Sisterhood International (BSI), doing business as the National Hope Collaborative (NHC), we stand united in our mission to uplift underserved communities, particularly at-risk and disadvantaged minority families. Our work is centered on fostering unity across all communities, and we strive to engage with political candidates from all major parties—including the Democratic and Republican parties—to advance our vision of liberty and justice for all.
Our mission at BSI/NHC is more critical than ever. With 37.9million citizens living at or below the poverty level, 250,000 unemployed veterans, and 500,000 citizens reentering society from prison each year, the challenges are significant. These statistics are not just numbers—they represent individuals and families striving for a better life, for survival, safety, and security.
We are committed to breaking down the institutional barriers that perpetuate inequality and to creating opportunities through creative health and social services programs. Our approach is collaborative, working hand-in-hand with other organizations, community leaders, and political stakeholders to eliminate the disproportionate health impacts on marginalized communities.
Labor Day reminds us of the values we hold dear as a nation—hard work, perseverance, and the pursuit of the American Dream. For too many, however, this dream remains out of reach. At BSI/NHC, our goal is to help individuals and families achieve this dream by providing the support they need to succeed. By engaging with politicians, community leaders, and other stakeholders, we aim to create pathways to success, improve lives, and strengthen our communities.
As we commemorate this Labor Day, we invite you to join us in our mission. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of millions, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to succeed and thrive.
