Early 2026: Key government-to- government meetings with Tribal Nations:

Several major consultations and convenings between Tribal leaders and U.S. government officials are set for early 2026. These sessions are designed to elevate Tribal priorities and shape federal (and in some cases state) policy that impacts Tribal Nations.

Jan. 21–23, 2026 — 20th Annual Government-to-Government Violence Against Women Tribal Consultation

Host: U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women

Location: Prior Lake, Minnesota

Focus: Tribal leader recommendations on administering Tribal funds and strengthening safety efforts for Native women.

• Feb. 9–12, 2026 — 2026 Executive Council Winter Session & State of Indian Nations

Host: National Congress of American Indians (NCAI)

Location: Washington, D.C.

Focus: Government-to-government priorities, policy agenda discussions, and relationship-building with federal officials. The NCAI President delivers the annual “State of Indian Nations” address during this convening.

• Feb. 10, 2026 — Tribal Consultation on Interagency Partnerships

Host: U.S. Department of Education (with the Departments of the Interior and Labor)

Focus: Input from American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian communities on interagency agreements and collaboration.

• 2026 (dates vary) — Indian Nations and Tribes Legislative Day (state-level events)

Example: Arizona and other states host annual days where Tribal leaders address state Houses and Senates to raise priorities and strengthen state–Tribal relations.
