On September 11th, 2022, NAWIC of San Diego gathered at De Anza Cove for the first time in three years due to COVID-19, for food, fun, and sharing. The organization was founded in the 90s by three Indian women; Wanda Cook, Eileen Chaske, and Carol Doxtator. NAWIC provides a place for urban Indian women from across the nation to gather. Among the members gathered were Maritza Gates, Eileen Chaske, Darla Philips, Jolene Shumilak, Gwendalle Cooper, Yolanda McCuster, Roschelle Gittens, Velma Carrio, and Linda Kourtis.
