This is an election year.

This is important to know if you live in a mail-in voting state like Oregon where I am.

Protocols at the USPS have changed, so mail is no longer postmarked the day it is dropped at the post office. They are now holding the postmark until it hits their machines, which could be a day or two later.

I know this is true as my last ballot in a local Portland election was invalidated as it wasn't postmarked by election day, even though it was dropped at the post office on election day. It was a minor election, just a local question; however in November of this year, we have a major election.

Do not wait to mail in your ballot, do it as soon as you receive it, or use the ballot boxes.

We have 11 months to get this info out because they want to invalidate as many mail in ballots as they can. Tell your friends, tell your neighbors, share this info far and wide.
