Tomas Oliva is running for the 36th Assembly District. Tomas was raised in El Centro, California, by his mother, who earned a master's degree and taught for twenty years at Ben Huise Elementary School in Imperial, California. This strong educational foundation and community influence helped shape Tomas’s commitment to public service and local development. This helped him receive experience in hard work, compassion, and having a strong voice in your corner.

After graduating from the University of California at San Diego, Tomas started his career in public service as a Polanco Fellow working in the California attorney general’s office. Tomas’s proudest moment as mayor of Centro was saving the El Centro Medical Center from closure.

Tomas said that, if he is elected, he will move more projects and reforms into Southern California, work with Congressional representatives Raul Ruiz, Juan Vargas, and Brandon Riker to start the Lithium Carbonate Project with a battery plant in the Salton Sea area, bring in more sustainable jobs, and restart the Mexican Tres Lagunes Project in order to provide a safe and healthy environment by introducing cost-effective electric power solutions. The Southern California Tribal Association can create a more profitable environment that supports better health care and sustainable farming.
