Remembering Willie Morrow
This year, we celebrated the birthday of the amazing Willie Morrow, the founder of California Curl, the largest Black hair conglomerate. Councilman Henry Foster and Attorney Shane Harris enacted the Proclamation for Willie Morrow Street, in honor of his tremendous service to the multicultural community of San Diego, particularly in business and society. Willie Morrow’s wife and daughter Cheryl were joined by Dr. Leah Goodwin, DJ Brian Good, the President and CEO of the Black Contractors Association Abdur-Rahim Hameed, SDPD Captain Arturo, Police Officer Gibson, and countless well wishers. Dr. Morrow’s legacy includes the invention of the world-famous Afro pick and the Jheri Curl. He contributed to the mentoring and motivation of numerous hairstylists around the world. Join us in honoring the founder of the California Curl.
