On May 6, 2025, the Charles County Council of Maryland voted to return land to the Piscataway Conoy Tribe, giving the tribe a permanent home.

The Piscataway Conoy Tribe has fought for years for approval of the donation of Charles County land to their tribe. The land parcel had been the site of Powwows and other ceremonies from  1982 to 2014.  Prior to then, it was owned by the US Army.

The parcel contains 9.5 acres in Charles Country and 7 adjacent acres in Prince George’s County.  Oddly, Charles County owned both the portion within its border as well as the parcel in Prince George's. Both sections will come under Piscataway control as a result of this approval.
