The Loving
When the doors at the Legacy Center of Mission Valley first opened, I was homeless and living on the streets. When I entered, I couldn’t believe the immaculateness of the Center, which was so lovingly designed by Morris and Theresa Cerullo. The Center is full of Christian testimony from all over the world and is a superb meeting place. The Cerullo Legacy has brought millions to Christ with love and respect. We greatly miss Morris and Theresa and are so proud of the legacy that they established through their “Fear of God” ethics.
Black History Month
San Diego is brimming with excitement about this year’s Black History Month with events county wide celebrating Black Americans’ contributions to society. The city remembered the greats like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, who stood strong with “Fear of God” ethics and sincere multicultural care, our very own Dr. Willie Morrow, who created impressive business and society strides to improve the lives of the community, and Dr. Nikki Giovanni, whose study of the arts healed millions. There are countless Black Americans that have worked hard to employ, educate, heal, and promote America! Thank you for setting the bar high!
Women of Roar
This year’s Woman of Roar Breakfast was a complete success. The all-star lineup included President Angela de Joseph and Tama Becker Verano, who worked tirelessly to put the event together. We were blessed with the Land Acknowledgement by Jamuls Erica M. Pinto, the food blessing by Queen Mother Harmon, an appearance by Secretary of State Dr. Webber, and a stellar speech by Dr. Ismahan Abdullah, who encouraged national and international women to continue to fight for humanity. Assembly member of Alameda Mia Bonta received the Woman Warrior Award, and we even got to hear from Betty Yee, the former State Controller. We also received support from the Beautiful Blue Heart Ushers and the WORC Future Leaders. Thank you for a great job and for a beautiful experience that was filled with greatness. Pala Community Meeting
This month we had the high honor of meeting with some of the most forward thinkers in the Native American community at the Pala Reservation for a powerful talking session about the current state of our community. We were hosted by Rose Davis, Eric Ortega of Rez Radio, Julian Do of Ethnic Media Services, and many other contributors. We were proudly joined by the Philippines media outlets, the children of the Muslim community, and reggae influencers. The meeting was an excellent reflection of the multicultural, multi-religious and multi-abilities communities. We are looking forward to more meetings and programs to examine and improve Native life. Please check out other happenings at palatribe.com.
