Mana de San Diego – Legacy Luncheon 2024:  A Celebration in Honor of Women’s History Month

On March 22, 2024, Mana de San Diego hosted a luncheon at Jamul Casino. The women of Mana welcomed members from back in the day, as well as contemporary leadership from various areas of excellence from all over the world. The organization was sponsored by Jamul Casino, California Coast, Kaiser Permanente and many others.

The highlights included introductions by our very own President Claudia Rempel and immediate Past-President Venus Molina. The event was expertly organized by Dr. Inez Perezchica and her superior staff, including Fernanda Canchola and Diana Lopez. The event was highlighted by heroic stories of success from the recently appointed San Diego Harbor Police Chief and Vice President of Public Safety Magda Fernandez.  She has received several awards, including the Port of San Diego 2018 Chairman Cup Award for “peer support” and exemplary character.

Diana Fuentes, City Clerk of the City of San Diego and Loyola Marymount alumni, received high accolades for working in government advocacy and community involvement.  The Super Hermana Award was presented to Delia Cacho Talamantez for her dedication to our community since she was 19. Her experience includes serving at the MAACproject located in San Ysidro, where she diligently supported issues like affirmative action, education for the community, and served with Mana de San Diego, the City of San Diego and the Chicano Park Museum and Cultural Center.

The audience included San Diego’s finest in banking, education, politics, law enforcement and business who were served a lunch which consisted of salmon, chicken and skirt steak surrounded by fresh flowers.  For more information, check outmanadesandiego.org
