More than 80 years after World War II, the Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial in San Diego continues to honor the Navajo Code Talkers with dedicated plaques recognizing their vital role in secure military communications and Allied victories. This beautiful occasion of recognition also honors Indigenous service members whose courage, sacrifice, and specialized skills helped protect our nation. Mrs. Anna Chanvechsat, a former registered nurse at the VA Hospital in Loma Linda, was invited by one of the Code Talkers’ families to attend and witness this meaningful memorial tribute.
