Gum'yu. (Greetings).

As the week of the Peach festival rolled through, the singers of Huwal Tovokova, Pine Springs band of the Hualapai traveled to Havasupai, to attend the Peach Festival, 2025.

The Peach Festival was spectacular, the line-up of entertainers for the evening restoration was filling amusement. The younger generation (Ginya), was overwhelmed with excitement. Live bands, music that I grew up with on the Hu-alapai reservation. Back then it was two stepping, boot scooting music. At times, a dance, called the duck, would be performed, by uncle Paul Honga, compliments of the C.A.P building.

The Rez Boys, of Peach Springs Arizona kicked off the evening. While Arivapai, finished the evening out around twelve in the morning, on Thursday night. Friday night was the Grand finale with Yohan Marley.

The Saturday line- up was a line of traditional song, dance and talk. The groups that were invited to share were the generations of what the “People/ Pai” are a mix of in today's world. But, have always been mixed with from the beginning of time. The Havasupai Pageant finished the evening restoration. The evening entertainers were Antonex, Rezcoast grizz and Native king.

Also performing was Yohan Marley, son of Stephen Marley, and grandson of the great Bob Marley. The excitement for the Peach festival organizers and Havasupai family was enormous anticipation. As this is the second time the “Marley” family has visited the Havasupai Village.  Back in the day, Cedella Marley, visited the village. As the tribal members back in the day- “Gud dav”, talked with Cedella, explaining the difference of life, when the sewage systems were run to the village. The difference of the water that runs to crops.

As the Mooroons, were  Africans that were stolen from Africa but taken to Jamaica. In a generation, the people mixed. However, in the old world, it was more of raping the women to get that mix. The Hikoo’, came and planted their seed within the old people's bloodline. Tying  them to lands and the people of the old worlds.

Today, life is not like that in the village, the falls are not as they were long ago. The canyon is the hourglass of time. The people are “Gods”, people as heaven and hell combined as one- “Siđđim”. Today we are mixed with the generations of our people throughout the world- fourth world. As there is a Mayan creation story of the People made of wood. They say the Uto-Aztecan peoples are from the Colorado River, Arizona.

In the Kathad Ganavj, the “Pine People” designated the Mojave to live by the river in Fort Mojave. In the 1900's the Walapai adopted the ghost dance. The bird cycle consists of songs that are of Spanish, Pima, Mojave and Upland Pai languages- Yuman. With the base of the songs in the Ho: kan language. The Hu-alapai carry the mother of the language.  They say the  song that the people stand up for is for Chief Wa’ba Yuma, Chief Schrum, (Tokumhet), Hitch Hitchie and the royal family of “Indians “, of the He: la Pa’a  descending from the People of Meriwitika/ Mađwiđa. The elder generations of  “The Pine Springs band”- Plateau People- Huwal Tovokova, where the songs originated from. The Havasupai people lived in Prospect Valley, Lagoon, Mohawk Canyon with the Hu:ba (Havasupai, Paiute, Hopi and Navaho).

In life today, the Mojave, Quechan Pa'a, “Lower Plateau, of the Yuman People”, have carried the bird song, as they were told to “Eat first then Plant Corn”. As the Cheme’hu’evi, sing the “Salt”, the medicine of the old People,  Singing the story Vi: Ganavj ‘vam, today's story, to take the spirit home. The Pa'a of the Haka'ama Ba: ja, the river people of  Wi’Kame - Avi Kwa Ame, the people made from “Reeds”, that grew along the river. The present day, starting from the People of the Sun. E’nya’ava  Pa’ay. The bird spirit of creation “Ja:bay”, “Ba'gi yo'Va” then Allah. Today Je'sus is that mix. As in the early generation, the old world. We were the healers “Ja'gu: alapai”, Creation. PAI, UPLAND PAI, YUMAN (AME-RICA), THEN THE UNITED STATES.

Most importantly,  the visitors and families shared a bond of this year's festival. Bringing some home back to the canyon. As our Ha:Vasu Pa'a guarded our vale the others, leaders/ Warrior's went to face the world.  As my auntie Diane Uqualla said “The world tore us up, but we are still here”, “Life is Healing for us”. The same thing my other aunties and Jiđa say- Family of Indian Honga “E'sa Ya'd  đim”, as flock of “Feathers”.
