Father Earl Henley Retires
by Robert Xavier Betancourt Junior
As in the Cahuilla bird song, life is many journeys and retirement is the reward of accomplishments.
Soboba Country Club
More than 200 people gathered to thank Father Earl for his 25 years of service, during which he established six churches, with St. Joseph Church at Soboba serving as the head church, along with St. Jude, a certified Mission Indian Catholic school. He now begins a new chapter in retirement in Pennsylvania, while the mission continues with new priests who will carry on his work.
