“Another Piece of Old Vegas Gone Forever”
So it looks like North Las Vegas is not excluded from stripping Las Vegas of its identity through demolishing and closing places that have been here for decades. On the North end of Las Vegas boulevard we see our history diminishing daily with the closing of the Silver Nugget and now Poker Palace has been purchased by an investment company and has also closed, with plans of renovations. Renovations that will strip this casino of the old Vegas vibe. This was a local place that many people that lived in Las Vegas loved to go to and feel that old Vegas feeling, somewhere fun to gamble, reasonable prices when you would like to eat or have a drink.
The silver Nugget unexpectedly closed due to electrical problems in August 2023. Although the adjoining concert venue remains open the building itself is closed and the casino. And as far as we know it is closed indefinitely. Thank goodness we still have our faithful Jerry’s Nugget also located near the same area as The Silver Nugget. I was married at Jerry’s Nugget more than 30 years ago. It’s very nice to still see the building is standing and the atmosphere has not changed at all, still great food, great people and the old Vegas vibe.
