It's all good news flowing from the mountains of East San Diego.
The Great Kumeyaay Nation and the Sycuan community has been pursuing positive humanity energy for the betterment of their community and heritage. Their most recent accomplishment was recently revealed to the public with an announcement of the opening of a futuristic high tech medical facility on the grounds of the Sycuan Reservation.
The success and enthusiasm of meeting the needs of the Sycuan community and neighbors has inspired a sense of hope and unity for tribes universally.
The Grand Opening Ceremony opened with welcoming remarks from Sycuan Chairman Cody Martinez followed by Tribal members, was a joyful event observed by a large group of spirited guests eager to experience and witness the historic moment. Traditional tribal blessings and Bird Songs greeted the observers and guests.
Maurice Smith, executive director of the Sycuan Health Center, offered hospitality by conducting a personal guided tour of the 24,000-square-foot center, offering attendees a firsthand look at its expanded space and integrated services.
Smith’s remarks captured the tone of the day.
“This remarkable facility is more than a building. It is an investment in the well-being of our people and those in the community,” “This celebration is a powerful testament to who we are as a tribe and what we value.”
Adam Abel Rodriguez, a long time community activist with deep family and historic connections in the Kumeyaay community had favorable comments about the new facility as well as the spiritual connection that it represents in the community.
“It is a healthy communication center!”
The Sycuan tribe’s commitment to accessible, culturally responsive healthcare for tribal members, reservation residents, and the broader East County community is clear.
